Halo Infinite Release date and Rumored to Most Expensive Video Game

HALO INFINITE RELEASE DATE

The Halo Infinite release date is Holiday 2020, as Microsoft revealed the new Halo game will launch alongside next-gen console, Project Scarlett. Thankfully, that’s not too far away.

As for a PC release date, we’re not 100% certain the PC release of Halo Infinite will land at the same time as the Project Scarlett launch, so we’re crossing our fingers. Still, this is great news as we thought the Halo Infinite release date would be much further out after a 343 Industries blog post said that the game has “a long way to go.”

HALO INFINITE STORY

The reveal trailer doesn’t give much away, but eagle-eyed redditors have picked up on clues in the footage that might give us an idea of the Halo Infinite story. When the Halo ring appears at the end of the trailer.

Installation 07 is 100,000 years old, one of the seven existing installations, and the only surviving one of the original 12. Interestingly, it is a Halo specifically designed to house Earth’s life forms and ancient humans before the planet’s imminent destruction.

So far, this is only – albeit very enticing – speculation. But since it looks as if we’re going to be waiting a while, we’re looking forward to enjoying all the Halo Infinite theories that emerge in the meantime.

HALO INFINITE TRAILER

Above you can watch the new Discover Hope Halo Infinite trailer from E3 2019. The trailer shows off some cinematics for the new game, and also gives us some clues as to the story.
There’s also the E3 2018 reveal trailer, which you can watch below. It takes a minute and a half for this Halo Infinite trailer to roll before it’s made clear that this is a new Halo game. Before that we get a lot of scene setting in some gorgeous environments – from deep, dank caverns, to rolling fields filled with wildlife the likes of which we’ve never seen before in the series.

But once we see Warthogs racing across the landscape, Master Chief’s signature green helmet, and the awesome Halo rings dominating the skies, we know it is the real deal. The trailer doesn’t give much else away but it’s enough to get our sci-fi senses tingling.

MOST EXPENSIVE VIDEO GAME PROJECT

Ever since Bungie parted ways with Microsoft and the Halo franchise, Xbox’s flagship series hasn’t been the same. Halo 4, Halo 5, and The Master Chief Collection all failed to perform as well with critics as past games, and the latter suffered from severe technical issues for years. Halo is Xbox’s most important franchise, and so it makes sense for the company to go all out to ensure that the next game in the series, Halo Infinite, lives up to expectations and avoids the pitfalls of its predecessors. And a new rumor suggests that Microsoft and 343 are truly going all out for the next Halo, to the tune of a $500 million+ budget.
According to German website Xbox Dynasty, Halo Infinite‘s development budget is over $500 million, and that is for development costs alone. This would make Halo Infinite the most expensive video game project ever produced, with a larger budget than even Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2. Xbox Dynasty doesn’t provide proof to back up its claims, so fans should take this with a massive grain of salt, but it would make sense sense if other rumors about Halo Infinite turn out to be true.

There are rumors that Halo Infinite is an open world game, and open world games tend to have larger budgets than other titles. We also know that Halo Infinite is using a new engine called Slipspace, and the development of that engine was likely an extremely expensive prospect.
